JC/DC

A.K.A the “Jason C Downes Combo”, JD/DC are returning to the MLX for more fun in 2011. Billed as the The Tempo of Doom in 2010, the band were a hit from the first note to last and plan to deliver more of the same hot and swinging music this year. Leading the band on sax and clarinet is Jason Downes along with Andy Swann (Drums), Peter Baylor (Guitar/Vocals), Mike McQuaid (Trumpet/Reeds), Leigh Barker (Bass) and Glenn Jacobi (Trombone).

The band will be embracing the “Back in Black” theme and we can guarantee you’ll have to travel a long way to see a rock band play better 1920s jazz than JC/DC!

For more information about the band, see Jason Downes’ website.

The Darling Buds of May

The Darling Buds of May are an exciting Perth based swing sextet. The group is primarily a swingin’ dance band, a local and interstate favourite amongst the swing dancing community.

The combination of the punchy horns and swingin’ rhythm section with the sultry tones of Jessie Gordon will have you swooning in your seats or dancing in the aisles. Both are appropriate and either is just fine with the band!

Although the band has an extensive repertoire covering many musical genres, they specialise in 1920s dixieland jazz, 1940s and 1950s swing, 1950s and 1960s rock ‘n’ roll and blues.

Their stage philosophy is all about having a passion for the music, laughter and joy in its presentation and creating an experience to share with their audience.

Andy Swann and the Midnight Creepers

He brings the international music mastery back to our shores, this time with a special combo for our Sunday night event where he and his merry band will prove their versatility as a swing band and moanin’ blues crew.
